— Prospect Hill
Prospect Hill was one of the first communities to be built on the city’s west side. It is a historic area with homes that are more than 80 years old. The housing is modest, consisting of 2-3 bedroom dwellings built in an early-1900s to post-World War II style of architecture. The area is located a mere 36 miles from the hustle and bustle of downtown San Antonio. Actress Carol Burnett and San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros are among the area’s former residents.

North Central is home to many smaller areas including Castle Hills, Hill Country Village and Hollywood Park. Area neighborhoods include Elm Creek, Inwood, Rogers Ranch and Bentley Manor. North Central is considered to be one of the more upscale areas in San Antonio. Far North Central is home to many of San Antonio’s most luxurious homes and master-planned communities including Scenic Oaks, Sonterra and Stone Oak. Far North Central is also home to many celebrities including Eva Longoria and Tony Parker.

Castle Hills is an independent city with a population of approximately 4,200, many of whom are retirees. It is completely surrounded by the city of San Antonio and consists of 1,866 households. Castle Hills originated as a missionary outpost and was incorporated by San Antonio in 1951. Many homes in the area are historical and have been preserved accordingly. Scenic Oaks is an 8.3 square-mile Census Designated area in Bexar County comprised of 26 individual neighborhoods. Scenic Oaks is also the name of a subdivision within the greater Scenic Oaks area. The population is approximately 3,740 with a median age of 42. The estimated median household income is $105,250. Houses in the area are relatively new with a house age well below the state average. Scenic Oaks is served by the Northside Independent School District and Boerne Independent School District.
The Scenic Oaks subdivision provides a snapshot of an individual neighborhood in the greater Scenic Oaks area. The subdivision contains 312 houses with a median value of $305,950. Midtown
Midtown is located in the center of San Antonio, bordered by Hildebrand Avenue to the north, Highway 281 to the east, I-10 to the west and I-35 to the south. The area consists of nine neighborhoods comprising one of the most historic areas in San Antonio. Each neighborhood is unique in its demographics and architectural style. Beacon Hill, one of the first “modern platted” subdivisions in San Antonio, is a working class neighborhood with Victorian-style houses lining its streets.
